Honoring Tradition Since 1946: The Proud History of Franklin Park American Legion Post 974

The Franklin Park American Legion POST #974 was chartered by the National Adjutant on the 12th day of July, 1946. The Post home is located at 9757 Pacific Avenue in Franklin Park. Much of the Post home was literally built by the hands of the veterans themselves.

In 1948, the Franklin Park American Legion Auxiliary was established. It was formed as an auxiliary unit to Post #974. Eligibility for the auxiliary is open to mothers, wives, daughters, granddaughters and sister of legionnaire.

In 1965 a charter was obtained for a Squadron of Sons of the American Legion - a fast - growing group of sons of members who are learning first-hand the efforts of the American Legion.
